Movable Steel Bridges starts with a historical survey of known and unknown, beautiful, rare and exceptional movable bridges all over the world, and then examines the four main types of movable bridge - the drawbridge, the bascule bridge, the lift bridge, including the roll-on roll-off bridge, and the swing bridge. The structural and mechanical aspects of bridge construction are extensively dealt with, as are subjects such as windloading and hydraulics.
