Walter Gropius - The Bauhaus, Dessau
This film draws attention to the great social responsibility of town planners, architects and mass-production designers, whose job it is to design the cities, houses and goods that form humankind's everyday surroundings. It sets out to show that of all art institutions in the 1920s, the Bauhaus was the most intensive in its approach to the task of aestheticizing the modern technical world. At the same time it indicates the importance of design in general, for without it the human need for beauty would remain at least partly unsatisfied.
