Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones The Wheel of Fortune, detail
This program explores how the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood turned English painting upside down, but only lasted four short years. Its influence was immediately felt in the work of its two best-known followers, William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. Art moved into design, and Rossetti responded by producing some of his finest work, in voluptuous portraits of beautiful women.
